Herts County Academy Programme

Whipsnade Park's PGA Professional Mark Day has been appointed as Hertfordshire County Academy Coaching Coordinator following an open recruitment process.
Mark will oversee the operation and development of the County Academy Programme (CAP) and implement coach education and development programmes within the county.

His role also includes establish a county coach education programme which provides the following:

Level 1 Volunteer coaching courses

Level 2 Volunteer coaching courses

Junior Golf Leadership Courses

Coach Development Workshops that provide additional Continuous Professional Development for Coaches

Coach Mentoring workshops

Equity in coaching workshops

Good Practice and Child Protection workshops

Disability awareness training.
In addition, Mark Day has created a series of skill challenges for all aspects of the game from driving through to putting, with the results analysed on a profile wheel to instantly measure strengths and weaknesses.
"When I created this programme it was in order for juniors to assess every aspect of their game and to find out what their handicap would be for each of these aspects," he said. "These results can then be brought to training sessions allowing the coach to make the sessions much more targeted."
The 15 coaches who have been appointed in Year 1 of the Academy programme are:
