Junior Girls County

Ten girls attended the
first coaching session of the year at the
beginning of January. This was held at Mill
Green and led by Barnie Puttick and Ian
Parker. A good range of activities got the
girls working hard again after the Christmas
break and gave them a chance to think about
goals and targets for the new year. |

Our thanks
again to the coaches who always manage to
inspire and motivate the girls and to Mill
Green for use of their facilities. The next
session is planned for February and we all
look forward to another exciting year for
Hertfordshire players. |

Once again another successful year has drawn
to a close for the Hertfordshire Junior Girls. |
|
There were several highlights not least the
girls winning their County Match Days for the third successive
year........ a fantastic achievement. |
|
On an individual level other highlights have
to include two junior girls, Ella Ofstedahl and Alice Hewson
competing in the final of the Ladies County Championship with Ella ultimately
winning the title and becoming only the 6th player to win both Junior
and Ladies titles in the same year. |
|
Also deserving a mention is Hannah Screen
( Berkhamsted) finishing second in the Abraham Trophy.......... a national
event organised by EWGA to find the most improved girl golfer in England. |

Four girls have left the juniors to join the
senior ranks, Liz Morgan, Katie and Emily Wingrove and Grace
Lewis. All four girls have been stalwart supporters of the Junior section
and we wish them every success in the future.

The final Trophies for 2011, the Scratch and
Handicap order of Merit were awarded at the County AGM at Brocket Hall Golf Club
on November 28th. |

The winners were: Ella Ofstedahl (
scratch) and Megan Evans ( handicap). |
|
The Order of Merit will start afresh in 2012
with details of how points are awarded being available on the website. |
|
There are some changes to the schedule for
2012. In addition to fitness training, coaching and inter county friendly
matches we are hoping to have an additional match against the Senior Ladies
Team, this is likely to be held in April with details to follow shortly. |
|
The most significant change in 2012 will be
that all our League matches within the East region are to be played over three
consecutive days on the 20th-22nd August. This promises to
be a very exciting event which I am delighted to announce will be hosted by
South Herts Golf Club.

Girls selected for England Training Squads, Ella Ofstedahl and Alice
Hewson ( Select) and Sian Hulse and Hannah Screen ( Birdies). |

Finally, I am delighted to announce that
Emily Chan will continue as Junior Captain in this her last year as a junior
girl.
