County Match Week Victory for Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire won all 5 matches to take them through to the County Finals in September.

Marathon for Hannah

At the Irish Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship held on 20 & 21 June at Douglas, Hannah Burke from Mid Herts was tied with Lisa Maguire at 5 under par after the statutory 54 holes. It took a further 7 holes of play off to seperate the two and Hannah only lost to a birdie

After this she was straight off to catch a flight back to England and was back in action on Monday afternoon for herts at County Match Week when she halved her first singles match.

Interclub Foursomes results

24 Clubs entered the Interclub Foursomes which was held on the 15th June at Brookmans Park. Despite weather forecasts of heavy showers and possible thunderstorms, the weather held fair and players enjoyed the course.

Charlie's at it again....
Following her recent success in the English Amateur Championships, Charlie Douglass from Brocket Hall has been selected to represent England in the European Ladies Team Championships being held at Bled, Slovenia from 7th - 11th July.
Charlie is also named in England's Nations cup team for the British Amateur Championships taking place at Royal St David's Golf Club, Harlech, North Wales between 9th - 13th June. Good luck to Charlie, Hannah Burke and Lucy Williams from Mid Herts.
English Amateur Champion- 2009 - WINNER!!!!!!!
Congratulations to Charlie Douglass from Brocket Hall - the winner of the 2009 English Amateur Championship. She had a fantastic 3 and 2 win over the Middlesex County champion Tara Watters to take her first major British trophy.
Charlie had to wait until Saturday morning to find out who her opponent was -Tara defeated former champion Emma Brown on the 20th.
Charlie was never down in the game and quickly got to four up but had been brought back to just one up after ten.
The short eleventh hole was an important point in the match which Charlie won with a bogey and she went on to finish on the sixteenth holing a twelve feet putt for birdie. For full details on the game please see the EWGA website.
English Amateur Champion- 2009
Charlie Douglass from Brocket Hall has reached the final of the English Women's Close Amatuer Championships being held this week at Lindrick Golf Club in Yorkshire.
Charlie qualified in 24th place for the match play stages after a second round 75 to go with her first round 87.
However she then went on to have some fantastic wins to reach the final to be played on Saturday. In the first round she beat Hannah Coles on the 19th.
 In the second round she beat the 2007 winner Naomi Edwards from Yorkshire and in the quarter final she beat Holly Clyburn (an England girl international) to set up a semi-final match against Tracey Boyes from Hamphire.
 She comprehensively beat Tracey 6 and 5 to set up a place in the final. Her opponent is not yet known as the other semi-final between Emma Brown (nee Duggleby) from Yorkshire and Tara Watters from Middlesex was suspended on Friday evening due to lightning.
We wish Charlie the best of luck in the final.
